We didn't have the green thing back then

Posted on October 31, 2011 at 14:38 0 Comments

My uncle found this article and sent it to me in an email. It points out something very important about "the green thing".
The Green Thing
In the queue at the supermarket, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologised to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day." The cashier responded, "That's our problem today. Your…

Is Recycling more of a cultural issue?

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 8:30 0 Comments

Is recycling cultural, political, or economical? I have always thought about the political and economical side, but never really the cultural. I have lived in Germany, and there, recycling is a natural as breathing. If you don't do it your neighbours will tell you off and it is highly looked down upon in society. However a recent talk on Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough rose a point. The eastern world have always recycled. China for example. Some farmers have farmed the same piece of…

First idea for our graduate fashion week display

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 16:00 0 Comments

I have been researching and gathering ideas for our graduate fashion week display. One popular idea proposed was an old textile factory, which seems quite fitting. Some issues we face are is the space going to be confined or open, how do we hang our garments and what about the floor and theme. I thought I would try and develop the factory one more. Instead of hanging our garments we could have them in draws in cabinets and in baskets. We could get any cabinet no matter the…

Hi Katrina... What kind of placement are you after? I'm setting up a quirky children's clothing company producing in Southern Africa (we are still in the very early planning stages). I need someone who knows about pattern cutting and vintage design to help with the samples. Email me if you're interested:

SA is beautiful btw, I spent 6 months living in Cape Town then backpacked up to Malawi via Mozambique, I still miss it! :)

Dear Katrina,

My name is Laricea Ioana Roman and I am a student at Kingston University, London (KU ID 0942659). I am doing a Master in Marketing, Advertising and Communications and at the moment I am writing my Dissertation. My topic is related to ethical clothing, more specifically, I am investigating how personal values influence customers' decision to buy ethical clothing. In order to come up with some answers for my topic, I need some opinions from people who actually bought ethical clothes.

This is the reason why I am kindly asking you to help me and fill in my questionnaire. It will take you no more than 10 minutes and you can win three books and £30 vouchers!
