Plus sizes - does it not fit within ethical fashion?

I have been frustrated personally over the years in sourcing ethical fashion for even sized 16's and 18's.  One can only survive on a limited amount of fairly traded t-shirts from M&S (though this years tees do not seem to have the fair-trade logo anymore - was it just a trend initially or what?).  When you go to the traditional plus size fashion shops - all it is unnatural fabrics - I am a linen, silk, wool, rayon gal and walk out feeling quite despondent.  In a way plus size people are…See More

Diversity In Fashion

This group is for anyone interested in ethical fashion for all. It particularly seeks the inclusion of "plus-size" and "disabled" in the development of ethical fashion, both areas of the fashion industry that are sadly neglected.See More

Query - fair trade gold - is this needed or not?

Hi,  I have been told by a "no fair trade" jeweller that "fair-trade" gold would not be of interest within the fashion sector. Your thoughts would be appreciated, generally whether or not you feel that it could replace mainstream gold or should all gold, irrespective be fairly traded? Look forward to hearing from you.Big thanks in advance! Ngaire See More

I have two themes here though they do slightly cross over.

I work with schools, businesses and individuals providing advice on sustainable procurement, sourcing, traceability (where I go through the whole path of a product or ingredient) setting up and working along side buying groups and running workshops/trainings.

Hello Ngaire,

Many thanks for the connection. I am currently in the process of putting together some designs  but then I will be pretty stumped as I don't have any connections in the actual manufacturing side of things yet! I have some ethical material ideas from swatches but that's about it. Any pointers are gratefully received!

Hi again Ngaire. My colleagues are in Japan at the moment speaking to retailers and organising our show for Nagasaki in September.. The show is centred around outfits designed for us by degree students in the four special tartans Ive designed -the 'Four Seasons' range. The project is linked to a childrens charity in India and we would like to source printed cotton and silk from India for some of our products.
