Spotlight on Sourcing: Africa Seminar, 18 August, 6 to 8.30, London http://snipurl.com/o1psy

Fashion products and supply create a life changing opportunity for many of the poorest communities in Africa. We are helping raise the profile of a seminar being organised by the Ethical Fashion Forum on 18 August (6pm to 8.30pm) that will focus on the specific challenges and opportunities related to sourcing for fashion products from a range of locations in Africa. Through case studies, the event will give an insight into how different sourcing models, products and businesses have maximised benefits to communities and minimised environmental impact.

The panel includes: Cristina Cisilino, Founder of MADE jewellery; Rohit Kuthiala, Senior Consultant- supply chain at Accenture; Jo Maiden, Founder and managing director of SOKO; Claire Hamer, former buyer at Topshop.

Does it means I can't buy an african print (fabric) from a large supplier? because they may use chemicals for huge amount of prints. Instead we should only work with the local dyes.

Thanks - I'll look into those. I am now wondering, if I were to make a garment using only recycled materials and organic materials, does my final product still count as organic? I haven't used any chemicals to make my new garment but the recycled materials may have had chemical treatment when they were orignally made. Does anyone know the answer to this, or is it a matter of personal opinion?
