I have been dipping in and out of "SUSTAINABLE FASHION &TEXTILES" by Kate Fletcher (earthscan, London, 2008) and it's proved informative and inspirational to me -with sustainability topics specifically in the fashion sector with expamples from the industry. I recommend it!

THANKS guys for your comments
i do think rosie and the diy-couture team have a great idea too as it encourages cooperation and it all adds to the retuning of mindsets which i believe is the importance of thinking ethical within fashion design and production

You might also be interested in the range of books (small but growing!) by DIYcouture, which use pictures to help you make your own clothes from scratch. The books aim to help people make garments that are precious and loved, rather than purchase practically disposable garments that get thrwon away with the passing of each season. Enjoy : ) www.diy-couture.co.uk
