I am happy to introduce my ethical luxury label-  AKIRA MING.

Akira Ming is an ethically made sustainable label, manufactured in India.

We make beautiful contemporary dresses and blouses using cruelty free silk AHIMSA SILK that we dye and print using age old techniques of hand dyeing and block printing by environment friendly processes.

What makes these clothes sustainable and ethical?

  •  Every dress is made in 100% Ahimsa silk – a specially cultivated Silk made with special technology where no silk worms are harmed
  •  The dyeing and printing of fabric is done in a WFTO certified Unit using Sustainably harvested gum arabica crystals and custom water binders based dyes
  •  The garments are manufactured in  a WFTO certified unit Where the artisans and labor are paid fair wages and follow Zero wastage practices

We are looking for retail partners to stock our garments.

Not exactly funding, but I am looking for sponsorship for my MA Fashion and the Environment at LCF. Looking specifically for certain materials. Read on if you may want to help!

It's using authenticity, transparency, design for disassembly, mindfulness of waste and craftsmanship as the key principles of design practice and method of communicating certain issues/ideals.

I'm using the north east of England, where I'm from as the base inspiration so all of my materials must evoke a feeling of that area. SO, I call up on you.

Does anyone have any of these things going spare/know where I can get them/have suppliers/could sponsor me:

-tarpaulin (rubberised cotton sheeting variety) & PVC (reclaimed)
-beads of all glass, ceramic, acrylic, crystal sort
-rope, man made & natural
-cord, cotton
-wool tops (for felting)
-neoprene foam sheet
-army blankets
-linen inc. tablecloths
-latex
-webbing

Thank you!!!

It seems as though the Skoll Foundation would be a great resource for many of you:  http://www.skollfoundation.org/

I'm working on building an app to help socially conscious consumers find authentically eco-friendly and ethical brands when they shop online.  Having previously worked in sustainable and ethical manufacturing I believe in helping designers make their own sales. As such, our app helps consumers connect directly with your store.  If anyone is interested you can learn more about the types of brands we work with here:  http://fashioningchange.com/eco_designers.

'MORALFIBRE - We are very pleased to let you know that recently we received a funding from the Indian Govt. Textiles for ‘Integrated Skill Development Programme’ for skill upgradation of 5000 artisans in hand spinning, weaving and processing in Gujarat, India.  This is a 5 years programme and we are of course, very excited about it.  This will give us an opportunity to develop even superior fabrics and contribute to increasing earning power of the artisans.

'MORALFIBRE frees the environment from pollution and depletion and frees people from poverty.'

We have many more socially and environmentally sustainable projects in our plans and we are seeking funding from international sources.  We are also looking for buyers and agents worldwide.  please contact us on moralfibre77@gmail.com, www.moralfibre-fabrics.com

Hi all,
. i am in USA but despite the relemtless greed of old Biz and its leash on our government, there are many of us uniting to act in collective manners.
I was recently asked to head up a group on co-ops as i think my fashionRIP project phase 2 calls for its own home and the gang buy-in of a co-op location would have benefits for the immediate stakeholders and the community. If it works to be an experimental site for an eco/green retro fit of the building....wow an experiment on many positive levels ...like a sane future.
So any great ideas or pointers on collective funding? We need a group account, as the biz or legal non profit sucks up $ at the get....snarky and not necessary (there is another way...just need to find it!)
This starters fund might in turn generate some funds from deeper pockets as it proves dedication and motivation, right?
