I think if you send your CV as well then they can see what else you've done. Because I did knitted textiles, I mainly helped in the design of AW11 knitted garments and accessories. But I also got to do some woven & print. I did everything from making fashion specs & editing and other photoshop work, swatching knitted samples, grading, visual feedback for knitwear, deliveries, showroom duties... It was a lot but it was good. I did have a part time job for a while but i've got other commitments with the artist co-operative I'm with. you do get a lot of responsibility but its exciting and you will learn so much. If you get the chance to intern with them, definitely do it. x
Basically its all about having the confidence to just go for it.
I graduated. I knew I needed to get moving because there is a lot of competition in our field. So I just emailed loads of companies. I knew about People Tree for years and I knew that they were the kind of company that I wanted to work for.
So I just applied for the design internship online and I also followed it up. I think that the key to getting noticed is just going for it and to try and have confidence in your work and yourself. People say I'm confident, I dont think I am. I get major butterflies but it pushes me I guess!
I would email them now actually, or if u want to send me your CV I can forward it on to the buying & design team. They're all really lovely. x
