About me / About business or organisation:
I was born in London but I’m only just becoming a true Londoner.

My mother is from Uruguay and I lived in Dubai for 5 years. I have travelled to a number of countries in my life and met people from all over the world. This has given me an open-mind, a love for textiles (and food) and allowed me to explore my creativity through my experiences.

I trained in Textile Design at Ravensbourne College and Central Saint Martins. I have a passion for small intricate techniques and I enjoy the versatility of textiles techniques and their adaptability within other areas of design.
Career history / Company history:
My interest in ethical and sustainable design practice challenges me to think about traditional or commonly used techniques and their affect on people an the environment. I have a lot of experience working with upcycling techniques out and waste material. Pioneering company Worn Again, whose corporate clients include Virgin Atlantic, Mcdonalds, Eurostar, are one of the sustainably aware organisations which I have worked for. It was with them I gained an insight into huge resource that is waste materials.

Since then, I have become an individual Fellow of The Ethical Fashion Forum and Source platform. I also now run textile workshops and assist with The Slow Textiles Group.

Another supporter of ethical sourcing and who I have worked with recently is Charlie Ross, founder of The Offset Warehouse. My previous experiences include being a part of the knitwear design team at fairtrade fashion brand People Tree . I have also worked alongside independent designers such as Nicomede Talavera, Sorapol, Marimodo, Emilio de la Morena and Heidi Leung.

Contrastingly, since the start of 2013, I have been volunteering for Architecture for Humanity, a charitable organisation concerned with the built environment. As part of the core volunteer team, I have helped to design and make structures at Clerkenwell Design Week and WOMAD Festival for Tangentfield.

I am now at Cockpit Arts Holborn, sharing a studio with other Designer-Makers who are on their joint creative Careers Programme with The Princes Trust.

Thats really helpful thanks, I emailed the address thats given on the website last night with 3 images from my last module. But it only asked for a c.v if I was going to apply for the other internships, I suppose I'll have to wait the 4 to 6 weeks? or shall I send the c.v as well, if so that'd be really great if you could help. I tried last summer to get a place, but as I was going into my third year I couldn't say I'd be there for the full six months, but now i'm graduating its a different story. :)  What type of jobs where you involved in and did you find time to have a part time job as well? Thanks again xx

Thanks.. i want to organise it more, into inspiration and my own work, but compliments are always welcome haha.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but I wanted to send you an email asking about your internship at People Tree, I'm only just finding my way around the EFF, so couldn't really work out how to send one. However, I'd love to know more about it, and did you just apply through sending off images of your work? Hope you have a lovely week, seems like its going to be busy.. Rachel xx

Hi Zoe,

Getting  Eco  Fashionistas to work together is great. Did you see this  http://www.greenweddingshowcase.com  I'm in the fashion show in Maryland & so are acouple of my friends.
At Herman's ECo we spend time on educating others about ECo Fashion, its important to be green & know why is better. so much going on its like the wild west with no rules. Common sense is good . The certifates are only as good as the companies putting them out  & they are dong it for profit . We say " Changing How The World Shops " The 4 W's Where was it made, out of What ,By Whom & What were they Paid ?
