Profile Information

Profession / role:
Entrepreneur
My primary role in relation to fashion is:
Retailer
I am looking to discover or buy
a) Building long-term/partner relationships, b) Great menswear designers, c) A sustainable sourcing strategy and supply chain
About me / About business or organisation:
I am in the process of developing a new sustainable menswear brand. Although I wouldn't call myself a total fashionista I'm interested in creating a casualwear brand that really connects with metropolitan men by deeply understanding them. My motivation is a) until I really immersed myself in the 'ethical marketplace' I just didn't see brands other than the Patagonia's and Howie's and Timberland's taking sustainability seriously and talking about it with their customers and b) as I've got into my mid-30s I've found it less easy to consistently find things I liked, and speaking to friends and colleagues it seems they've felt the same. So I'm very excited to develop a proposition that can be a future benchmark for sustainability with being 'all about sustainability' while really connecting with men and giving them a product they love and will be loyal to.
Career history / Company history:
13 years at Procter & Gamble in FMCG sector as brand manager and then associate director, in South Africa, UK and Switzerland, working first in Baby Care and then mainly in Prestige Beauty Care, specifically Salon Professional products - including relaunch of the Sassoon Professional brand (colour/care/styling products) and the Nioxin acquisition. Always looked for challenging projects involving turnaround and innovation, and became adept at developing brand equity/identity and bringing it to life characterfully. Working with the Sassoon Creative Team for almost 10 years ignited my passion a) for working with truly talented creatives and b) for the creative challenge of developing and launching seasonal (in this case hair fashion) collections. This experience coupled with my dream of launching a cool brand of my own that was also a force for good has brought me into the fashion sector - with a lot to learn still, but the passion to create something special.
