What do people do with their fabric offcuts? Could a mutually beneficial network be set up to minimise waste and maximise opportunities?
About me / About business or organisation:
I make funky slippers from reclaimed materials - mainly offcuts from the upholstery trade. I've also set up a link with a local homeless charity, using their unwanted donated textiles and contributing £1 for every pair sold to the charity.
Career history / Company history:
I studied Furniture Design and began working in the furniture industry, but then realised the amount of leather offcuts that were going into landfill. This gave me the idea to set up a business making slippers using reclaimed materials, which I started in November 2009.
