About me / About business or organisation:: I am a designer whose experience and training crosses over the boundaries of design, craft and art. My work has been widely exhibited internationally including in Africa and India, as well as being on sale in UK galleries and shops.

Being based in Africa for many years, my work is concerned with ethical practices and social sustainability. I am developing my practice-based research into collaborative work between established designers and grassroots African crafts projects further, challenging current preconceptions of the designer‘s role in the developing world.

Designed Spring/Summer 09 collection for Made, fair trade jewellery, on sale in Topshop, Whistles & House of Fraser
12 years experience in sustainable livelihoods in Southern Africa & South America in craft development, skills training for economic empowerment and entrepreneurship with NGOs and CBOs

I have been working in production and product development for luxury fashion brands in the UK (currently Burberry) for the past 6 years and I am passionate about finding ways to increase production of fashion in Africa. My plan is to travel and spend some time working with a variety of projects/producers to see how we can link-up and work together to make producing in Africa more viable for western based businesses.
