Like-minded individuals or businesses interested in ethical jewellery.
About me / About business or organisation:
After many years working as an international development consultant, I've decided to focus on promoting employment creation in East Africa. But its not just about jobs. Achieving true sustainability means fostering the growth of indigenous skills and providing the know-how to tackle international markets. That's why my company, Savannah Chic focuses on promoting jewellery made by talented African craftsmen.
Career history / Company history:
BA Economics & Agriculture, University of Nottingham
MPhil Development Studies, University of Cambridge
Worked with African governments, NGOs and international donors like the World Bank and UN on employment creation and poverty reduction issues for 10 years.

Thanks for getting in touch. One of the start ups struggling to form at the Bahir Dar center is a group of silver jewellery makers. It would be good to link them up with you as they need encouragement. The following link is to photographs from my working trip in May June 09. http://www.flickr.com/photos/37427767@N02/
Also, in response to the message you left me: I understand that e-links can sometimes not be so successful but through the Ethical Fashion Forum you can make contacts and meet in person. We have various events throughout the year based in London (and some in other locations too) so if you could attend one of these you are likely to benefit greatly. I know you're not based in London but I hope that helps. Perhaps try asking for phone numbers / skype details and contact people that way?
I noticed that you're based in Nairobi and would like to invite you to join the Africa group. You can find and be found by some useful contacts there. I hope to see you in the group soon,
