Partners - ethical designers/brands, students and consumers to help us fundraise to increase the income potential of textile workers and small-scale growers.
About me / About business or organisation:
The Climate Connected Benefit Society is an industrial and provident society for the benefit of the community - a very simple funding vehicle, which allows ordinary, socially aware investors in the UK to put their capital to work in a way that directly benefits disadvantaged communities in the developing world. As a not-for-profit company, all surplus profits will be reinvested in our projects to optimise the social return on our capital investments.
Career history / Company history:
CCBS is dedicated to the eradication of rural poverty while also combating climate change in rural communities in the South through the creation of sustainable, community-based projects. We believe that everyone has the right to a decent living wage,to be fairly treated, get an education and have access to healthcare, irrespective of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity. We see it as our core mission to engage with UK ethical investors, students, school-children and UK business and socially conscious consumers to help us finance our climate and poverty alleviation projects. CCBS ledprojects are designed to ensure that the most vulnerable people in these communities (usually the very young, the old, the infirm, women and socially excluded groups) have an opportunity to earn an income from our community-focused agro-forestry climate projects. As part of this, we look at assisting textile workers and growers operating at the base of the pyramid.
