SOKO is a clothing manufacturing unit based in Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary in Kenya.
They run a self-sustaining manufacturing business with social and environmental principles - they pay fair wages, provide needed social services, a pleasant place of work and are committed to limiting our environmental impact.
SOKO work placement: 4 - 6 months (May/June 2015 - October 2015)
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in learning more about ethical fashion and ethical manufacturing.
SOKO has a team of 50 people and over the course of the placement you will have the opportunity to work in every area of the company and get a well rounded understanding of ethical garment manufacturing.
The role will include involvement in production planning, management of production schedules, pattern development and cutting, quality control, liaising with clients, problem solving and developing SOKO's social media.
They are looking for a motivated, passionate person with a willingness to learn and get stuck in.
Skills required:
- Very competent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- A basic knowledge of garment construction and pattern reading
- Competent at formal written communication in English
The placement will include accommodation and a per diem.
