About The Andean Collection
The Andean Collection (AC) is a socially responsible New York-based jewelry company that specializes in fair trade and eco-friendly designs. Jewelry is designed collaboratively with artisans from Ecuador, who use sustainably harvested & processed rainforest seeds to create fashion forward jewelry. The Andean Collection also has a non-profit arm, The Andean Project, to fund school fees for the artisans and their children.
Amanda Judge started the Andean Collection in September of 2008. While still in its first year of operations, The Andean Collection has secured a number of influential accounts such as a large national retail chain and high growth is expected in 2010 and beyond. Currently, The AC jewelry can be found in over 50 retail outlets throughout the states and online at www.theandeancollection.com. In addition to wholesale and retail sales, The AC also manufactures items made from its eco-friendly materials for three independent distributors.
Position Title: Regional Sales and Public Relations Manager
Position Description: The Regional Sales and PR Manager will work directly alongside founder, Amanda Judge to improve the brand image and sales of The Andean Collection. Position will involve opening new wholesale accounts on the east coast, as well as a wide range of marketing and public relations work, with minimal administrative duties. There is significant room for growth both via sales commission and also in other areas of the company.
The company has 4 employees, but all except for this position work remotely. This position would work directly alongside the founder to grow the company in a number of ways from NYC.
Duties:
70% Sales
• Service existing accounts East of the Mississippi
o Keep accounts abreast of new offerings
o Increase their re-order rate and the percent of our collection that they carry.
• Research & open:
o local boutique accounts on the east coast
o national/east coast midsized accounts (5+ locations)
o assist on researching large national accounts
• Attend east coast trade shows or occasional retail shows as necessary (travel covered by The Andean Collection)
20% Public Relations/Marketing/Branding
• Lead PR campaign to local & national media outlets
o Determine appropriate media outlets
o Send press kit & samples
o Effectively follow up with phone calls/emails
o Attend networking events as necessary
• Explore various non-traditional PR opportunities
• Take a holistic approach to creating our brand image
• Think creatively about internet marketing strategies
• Assist on various marketing projects as they are developed
10% Administrative
• Build & Maintain email/contact database
• Input expenses/sales in quickbooks (training provided) (a few hours per month)
Requirements:
- experience in (wholesale) sales
- experience in PR a plus
- passion for eco-friendly products and of course, jewelry.
- Interest/experience in fair trade a plus
- articulate and presents self well to corporate buyers
- EXTREMELY well organized to maintain proper follow up both within PR and Sales realm
- Self starter and independent worker
- creative thinker who can grow with the position and think strategically about future opportunities for The Andean Collection
- thrives with minimal supervision
- flexibility in working conditions (ie, we have no physical office as of yet, so much work would be carried out in coffeeshops/apartments)
- must have own laptop
- Spanish language skills a plus
Compensation
Base salary plus commission, commensurate with experience and potential.
Start date:
Ideally, this position would start October 1st, or sooner
