Hi there,

 

i am starting a fashion label and would like to find out if anyone knows of a textile agent that supplies in small quantiities for  linen fabrics (50metres +) ethical and organic, cotton and silk

 

any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Natasha,

I know how difficult it is to find small quantities of fabrics - I studied fashion design but am now based in ethical textiles... sourcing, supplying and designing.

I don't use an agent but I think that is what I am turning into as well, especially as I know what it's like being on the designing end of it. I spend a lot of time researching textile companies and the latest sustainable materials and now go straight to source but taken many months to find the people I now work with.

I've added you as a friend - can you message me more details of what you are needing.... your level in the market and more details about types of fabrics you need and their applications and I will see what I can do to help!!!

many thanks for your e-mail. I am looking for mostly silk , cotton and linen fabrics for now and although i know some suppliers i know they do bigger quantities. i am looking to launch my range/fashion lable for S/S2012
it is marketed at thehigher end of the market and i am looking to be making ladieswear blouses, skirts dresses,soft tailoring.
anyway if you have any ideas where whom i can contact please drop them by that will be very helpful

Hi Natasha,

 

Have you spoke to Phil from Organic Cotton Biz?  He's based in Wales and is lovely.  I am sure he could help you find what you need for the cotton and I can help with the silk supply. 

 

I was just thinking would some of my own materials work for you as well?  They are hand dyed or painted with natural dyes as this is my speciality.  With you saying that you are aiming for the higher end of the market, they would suit this level of the market.

 

Are you based down in London?  I am up in the North East but am starting to work with designers all over the world (New York, Paris etc), to supply my materials but also to help provide other fabric ideas, inspiration and options.
