The Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF)* at London College of Fashion is excited to announce the International Student Awards for Sustainability in Fashion. The awards build on the success of the 2008 awards and the Fashioning the Future Summit held in London in October 2008.
The aim of the awards is to celebrate innovation through design, production, consumption and how fashion is valued. The competition will give industry the opportunity to engage with emerging talent in design and encourage reflection on the possibilities we are facing rather than the limitations of our past behaviour. The theme for 2009 challenges the industry’s dependency on water, and the need to find radical ways to design, promote, retail and consume fashion, which alleviates this chronic dependency on such a precious resource.
The competition is open to all current students and recent graduates who completed a course in 2007, 2008, or 2009. Individuals must register their interest online at www.sustainable-fashion.com
For Round 1 of submission work must be submitted by 7 October 2009. Successful applicants will be notified by 23 October 2009 if they are to progress into Round 2.
The winners will be announced at a showcasing event at London’s City Hall on 25 November 2009. A static exhibition will be on show at City Hall from 10 – 30 November 2009.
Each award will have an experiential award. This will be an internship, production opportunity, international work opportunity or mentoring from an industry leader.
