First entry,
I have never written a blog before, but fancy the idea as i enjoy keeping a diary.
I guess it will be about me, An emerging designer based in the South West of England and my exciting career launching a sustainable womenswear business and the challenges and hopefully successes it presents.
Currently frantically sewing the last few garments to complete my 18 garment collection. better late than never, but the launch is September!!! cutting it fine!
I am really excited about this collection, feel it has finally got the right balance of pieces. Thanks to the EFF training i went on in November last year i have manage to refine my design and business skill to compliment my sewing skills. It has taken alot of hard work to realise that the ability to make beautiful clothes and now the ability to manage a business requires many more skills than one could possibly ever imagine. worth the hard work, time and effort though! good progress this last 6months.
In the last month everything has really started to come together, pattern cutting and toiling complete check, photoshoot check, fabrics and haberdashery arrived check, promotional material sorted check, manufacturing check.
That is exciting, have been working with a local manufacturer for the last month, been going in and training the workers twice a week. This is a brilliant factory that employs a high percentage of disability workers, giving them the opportunity to be a success in the community. I am enjoying teaching the workers new skills, we all have a good laugh and they probably think im very bossy as i bang on about high quality all the time-Its important though and i believe we need the best work from everyone!!!
PRESS....looking forward to tomorrow, although nervous, got press visiting the factory, to interview us all about our exciting project !!!
