About me / About business or organisation:
Originally from the northeast of India, I have always had a keen interest in ethnic fashion and design and now i have recently started my own online boutique selling ethnic handloom products made by the tribal people themselves and selling them in the UK.
Career history / Company history:
Founder Stacey Aydeniz is on a mission to revive the ancient art and practice of traditional weaving which is slowly dying in this region. Hand looms & Handicrafts have now been taken over by machines that mass produce textiles and are sold in the markets. This leads to un-employment for the locals which is a big blow especially in the villages because their entire livelihood depends on it. Stacey saw a chance to reduce poverty through the socially and environmentally responsible sale of handloom & handicraft products. She is trying to help the local people by buying their wares directly from them for a fair price. And then help other people by hiring them at a fair wage to create them into some really fierce bags, clothes and accessories which can be an exquisite and treasurable gift for a bored shopper in the West. A little tribal- a little contemporary and 100% ethical, Little Hill People is the true embodiment of fashion with a conscience. Whether it’s the handbag re purposed from hand woven shawls, the hand braided jewelry that jingles or the organically dyed, hand loomed textiles,.. each element of Little Hill People carries a message by the people whose lives have improved by making it - "Thank you"..
