I am looking to continue the conversation of how fashion can be socially responsible and be used as a tool to help those in need.
Career history / Company history:
I have been working as a senior apparel design for an outerwear company. I have a BFA in fashion and am currently doing my Thesis for my Masters in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing
Hi Johanna, you begin by creating a cloth which represents all Dominicans - many cultures, one nation. It becomes a national brand, a symbol of identity which can be used in clothing accessories, stationery, gifts, souvenirs and eventually fashionwear. When you have that organised you can think about developing designs and products for clients. Its really quite simple. I can take you through it
Hi Johanna, Im aware of the economic difficulties of the Dominican Republic and the lack of resources but thats the point about what I do and have done in African countries. Im always prepared to make the initial investment by designing and supplying the first batch of cloth. This can be used by local people to make sample garments/accessories to test the market. It costs them nothing. If we dont make this kind of effort then we cannot change things for the better.
