About me / About business or organisation:
moki aotearoa is commited to producing footwear with a more "ethical" approach. We believe that we can fight excessive waste and try to move away from disposable "throw away fashion". All our footwear is made 100% in New Zealand, and we use a variety of more eco-friendly processes and materials. The totally sustainable shoe is still a long way off, but we are trying to recycle, reduce, reuse and rethink what we can do to make our footwear more sustainable.

Recycle
We recycle New Zealand native timber for many of our heels and clogs.
Reuse
We upcycle pre-loved clogs giving them new soles and uppers, breathing new life into them.
Reduce
We aim to reduce our environmental footprint, choosing to use local labour, hand-made processes, and source our materials in New Zealand. We do not use plastic bags for our packaging, use chlorine-free tissue, partly recycled boxes and endeavour to minimise and recycle all incoming and outgoing packaging.
Rethink
We are trying to rethink every process and action we take, there is always room to improve. We believe in New Zealand made products and are 100% comitted to keeping footwear made in Aotearoa. We reguarly re-evaluate what we can do to minimise toxin use. We choose to collaberate with companies and individuals who value our more sustainable approach to fashion footwear.
Career history / Company history:
Our company made its debut at NZ fashion week 2010 on the catwalk with Starfish. Starfish, a company well known for its progressive, enduring style with an ethical edge, produces environmentally friendly clothing, with every garment incorporating eco-friendly fabrics and manufacturing techniques. The Starfish and moki aotearoa collaberation demonstrates our shared commitment to working toward a more sustainable fashion philosophy, and proves that stylish clothes and footwear can be achieved ethically.

This season's moki aotearoa & Starfish footwear collection is inspired by the rich history New Zealand has to offer, and is an eclectic mix of clogs made from recycled native rimu & upcycled preloved clogs, given a new lease of life!

    Thanks for the quick response!
    I really like how you answered my question. That would be a very good way to photograph the uniqueness of your footwear. You are so dedicated from start to finish with your products eg the clogs you were mentioning. I can see you guys are very passionate. If you ever need photos done to promote your footwear, I would love to help out...even though I'm in Australia!

    and in relation to - what is ethical photography? Would there be justification in using the chemicals, to promote something that is ethical? I guess it all depends on how far you want to take it. eg...what about the tools that you guys use to make your shoes, are they ethical? and same with the tools I use...you make a very good points. Its also the same with sustainability. To be completely 100% sustainable, we would have to live off nothing but the land itself.
    Which is near impossible in todays time.

    How would one 'act' in an ethical way, do you think?
