VELECO - Ethical Cyclewear to appear on TV show Be Your Own Boss.

Hove based business VELECO, the world’s first Fair Trade and eco‐friendly cyclewear company, is set to feature in a new TV show; Be Your Own Boss fronted by Richard Reed from Innocent Drinks. Due to launch at the end of September VELECO has been set up by Johnathan Lewis, a former employee of The Argus and ethical entrepreneur Jamie Lloyd.

Be Your Own Boss is a BBC3 show where Richard Reed searches for entrepreneurial businesses that he can invest in and follows how those companies develop. VELECO were given £100 of Richard’s money to generate as much profit as possible. They decided to make organic ice lollies which they sold around the city during the Brighton Festival on their bikes. They generated a profit of £188.45 which was donated to Children in Need. They then submitted a video of their exploits and were selected to go to pitch to Richard at an expo in London. From hundreds of businesses VELECO reached the final short list for Richard Reed’s investment and went back up to London to meet him, but unfortunately they just missed out on being in the final eighteen businesses that received Richard’s backing.

VELECO’s ethical cyclewear collection features cycle jackets made from recycled plastic, organic caps, t-‐shirts and hoodies designed for urban riders. All their garments are made using Fair Trade, ethical and eco-‐friendly principles so they use natural and organic materials wherever possible.

Having geared up the crowds at Bestival, VELECO is appearing on tonight's new BBC3 show 'Be Your Own Boss' with Richard Reed. Catch them on BBC3 at 9pm for your first glimpse of the leading ethical cyclewear!
