The EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition inspiring emerging fashion designers to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste. Designers are educated with the theory and techniques to enable them to create desirable sustainable clothing via zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction sustainable design techniques.
The 2014/15 competition cycle is open to fashion designers with less than three years’ professional experience and fashion design students living in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. One finalist from each of the ten regions will be selected to present their sustainable collection at Hong Kong Fashion Week in mid January 2015 to compete for career-changing prizes.

Joining The Ecochic Design Award is also a chance for you to take part in a fierce competition and maybe even reach the top and win amazing prices.
The 1st prize is the chance to design your own capsule collection using up-cycled textiles for Shanghai Tang (China’s leading luxury brand). With the 2nd prize you will be able to design textile waste-reducing staff uniforms for Hong Kong’s legendary five star hotel,The Langham. With the Special Prize, you’ll get the chance to visit the heart of design and production of the internationally renowned Sustainable Luxury jewellery brand, John Hardy. In addition, there is a selection of career boosting prizes for the semi-finalists and finalists including books, mentorships and other resources.
The EcoChic Design Award 2014/15 boasts an influential international and local judging panel who are poised to find the sustainable fashion designers out there who are a cut above the rest. Just to name a few:
