About me / About business or organisation:

I have been a textile designer for over 20 years, working in various areas of the industry, including fashion, interiors, film. I have also been a tutor at the RCA. I have my our company, Karen Spurgin Textile Design Ltd and am a founder member of ao textiles ltd.

Career history / Company history:

During my career I have worked with clients in fashion including Bruce Oldfield, Jasper Conran, Vivienne Westwood. For the last 10 years I have been the textile designer for US based company, dosa. The philosophy of dosa embraces sustainabilty as a core value. This has informed my practice as a textile designer. I have worked as the textile consultant in collaboration with Deborah Milner on the groundbreaking, ecouture collection in partnership with Aveda. Out of that project came the textile design consultancy co-founded with Emma D'Arcey , ao textiles ltd. We are currently working on a project with Suffolk based silk weaving company, Gainsborough. We are creating fabrics that combine recycling and natural dyeing on high end, jacquard woven silk.
