About me / About business or organisation:
la mano works directly with women's cooperatives, indigenous organizations and small-scale cottage industry in Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico, seeking communities and artisans who have the significant barriers to market access, and providing a connection to conscious consumer markets in Canada and abroad.
la mano's mission is to support the dignity and preservation of culture and traditional livelihoods of woman and indigenous peoples through the ethical trade of beautifully handcrafted artisan textiles & products, while simultaneously raising consumer consciousness.
our vision is to foster the development, enrichment and strengthening of local & global communities by moving, inspiring and supporting people to act from a place of dignity, integrity, respect and love.
the principles which guide la mano's work and relationships are respect, dignity, community, quality, ethics honesty and partnership
Career history / Company history:
la mano's founder, jennifer faith, has worked with women's cooperatives in Chiapas, Mexico for over 7 years. her experiences and reflections on this work made clear that the best use of her energy and passion - the most impactful expression of solidarity with women and indigenous revolutionaries and artisans - is to act as a bridge to a broader market for their work.
The goal and larger impact of of this work is contributing to the preservation of culture and traditional livelihoods, supporting the economic and political autonomy of women and indigenous peoples, increasing the viability of small-scale production, and in effect enabling communities to maintain a stronghold on their land and on their identities.

My last child finally moved out & i've got all this time to get this big ethical machine working, yay!
Its has been a life long dream of mine to finally get a gorgeous creative ethical fashion product up & running.
Was wondering firstly if you would be my friend? I like what you do & do you have thicker tapestry style fabrics that would be suitable for earthy designer handbags?
Cheers G :D
