The new hall of the Museum in Fő utca has been opened on the Day of the Hungarian Culture, 22 January. The aim of the Open Handicraft Studio is to get visitors acquainted with the secrets of the folk handicraft and to let insight the young ones as well as the adults, professionals, students and all those who are interested in folk arts into the collection of the Museum and into the work of the contemporary folk artists.
Handicraft masters, mostly the graduated weavers, basket, pearl jewellery, felt and lace makers of the Hungarian Heritage House’s handicraft courses and handicraft masters of other trades have the opportunity to work in the Studio.
Career history / Company history:
The Hungarian Heritage House is a national institution founded in 2001 by the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage with the purpose of preserving and promoting Hungarian folk tradition. The HHH is comprised of three units, each of which contributes to this aim in its own unique way. The HHH welcomes all enquiries, and aims to meet all requests in connection with Hungarian folk tradition.
