About me / About business or organisation:
As a designer and consultant, I specialize is working with artisans in various parts of the world to develop textile products for western markets. The focus of my design outlook includes sustainable practices (including natural dyeing) and the use of traditional skills. As an educator, I teach sustainable design theory and practice to textiles and fashion students at college level.
Career history / Company history:
With 20 years of experience as a textile designer, I have worked on product development with artisans in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Columbia and Haiti. Most recently, I have been involved in the Brandaid project in Haiti (http://www.brandaidproject.com/), which was launched at Selfridges last December. As an educator, I have been both a full-time Studio Head in Textiles and have taught on various textile and fashion programs. Currently, I work out of the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-operative in Toronto, Canada (www.textilestudio.ca).
