The Alliance for Artisan Enterprise, founded in November, 2012 and hosted by the Aspen Institute, is a collaborative effort of 24 organizations, corporations, and individuals who are working together to promote the full potential of the artisan sector. The Alliance for Artisan Enterprise works to support the power and potential of artisan enterprises to developing economies, communities, and women entrepreneurs all over the world.
The Alliance for Artisan Enterprise was created to support and grow artisan enterprises, provide best practice services to the organizations that support them, and to support the broader recognition of the importance of the artisan sector to development and preservation of cultural heritage.
In the summer of 2010, I created my own artisan income generating project in Battambang, Cambodia which was later recognized by Rajiv Shah, Administrator of USAID during his 2011 Colby College commencement speech. After graduation, I worked for the Senhoa Foundation in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
