EcoMaco are a Japanese bridal and womanswear brand with a strong focus on carbon neutral production. Winners of the Stevie Award in 2009, EcoMaco actively seek to innovate production processes and adopt new materials and technologies. Clothing is made using use corn starch, soybean, bamboo and kenaf selected on the basis of their eco-friendly credentials. Alongside this, EcoMaco produces products with polylactide acid fabric, a new technological fibre made of corn starch. Polyactide is biodegradable in the natural environment, made from inedible corn product and holds anti-fungal properties for the skin. Using local couturiers and hand dyed fabrics, EcoMaco work to shift the emphasis within fashion production from petroleum-derived materials to green sources.

Masako Oka was inspired to develop Ethical Fashion when she witnessed in shock a huge amount of discarded clothes at a disposal facility.
In 1998, “Fashion for the Earth” (Fashion show about the expression of beauty by using natural materials) was held as a Cultural Art Program of 1998 Nagano Olympic Games.
In January 20003, Ms. Oka, as a pioneer designer, joined the Polyacid Fiber “INGEO” world debut party organized by PoCargill Dow LLC Co.
In November 2004, the brand participated in the “China Fashion Week” organized by the Association of China Fashion Designer.
In October 2007, the brand represented Japan to join the fashion show of Singapore Fashion Week 2007 GARA party.
In June 2008, eco-fashion show "Fashion for the Earth in SAPPORO" was held in the Hokkaido Toyako Summit event "Environment Integrated Exhibition 2008".
