I run a charity that has been set up to support a Ghanain co-operative that provides employment for those who have been stigmatised due to their HIV+ status. We are currently working towards selling a range of playsuits, skirts, shorts and scarves through the Ebay for Charity scheme all made by members of the co-operative. All profits will go towards supporting adults and children in the Offinso region of Ashanti, Ghana who have been adversely affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Career history / Company history:
Offinso HIV Relief was founded in 2007 after the Director spent a year in Ghana working with a charity called the Single Parent Foundation who work tireless to support adults and children living with HIV/AIDS or the consequences of the virus. Having spent some time developing a range of fundraising methods we have recently begun developing a clothing design and manufacturing business taking design ideas from the UK and creating ranges using vibrant and unusual African printed fabrics.
