My Name is Audra Hughes, and I run Prophetics Cosmetics, an avant garde, haute couture makeup company, committed to making ethical, environmentally responsible, sustainable and nontoxic mineral pigment based cosmetics for professional makeup artists, stage artists, and the savvy beauty maven in all walks of life. Career history / Company history:

I started my path towards a career in cosmetics early, selling Avon on my mother's route at just 4 years old, entertaining clients with lipstick demonstrations and an insatiable love for all things makeup. At 12 years of age, I was enrolled in art school and ended up doing the makeup for all productions and learning the tricks of the trade. I remained a novice artist for 7 years, and finally moved toward the glamour and fashion side of the industry as a retail makeup artist. During that time, I worked for a start up company in Denver as a national makeup artist, and ended up in the labs, formulating. Though the company folded, the skills stayed with me, and in 2011, I started Prophetics Cosmetics because I started to see the health problems that harsh chemicals can cause in full view as some of my friends who were stage actors over the age of 50 were suffering the effects of a life covered in stage makeup. I wanted to create a line of stage colors that stood the test of use, but were far safer than the commercial alternatives, and Prophetics Cosmetics was thus born. Currently, I work as a full time Makeup Artist with various private clients, and have worked with such organizations as The Rocky Mountain Body Art Jam, Frightmare Compound Haunted House, Artist Cheryl Lipstreu, Winner of the Miss Living Art America Pageant, and countless artists who believe that beautiful never has to be dangerous.
