Sustainable materials from Brazil - yarns, fibres, fabric, raw materials - where and how?

I am a Textile Design student at Central Saint Martins in London, specialised in knitted Textiles.

Currently working on research for my final degree show next year in June. I am very intersted in sourcing sustainable materials from Brazil (my fathers home country) where I will be spending about 5 weeks this christmas. - My plan is to create a sustainable Textile Design collection using alternative materials both recycled and new sustainable materials. Does anyone know how to go about making contacts or perhaps places to visit in Brazil where I can get hold of sustainable materials.

Anything would be useful : companies, labels, factories, places where particular materials are produced - if you are knowledgable in this area please share your wisdom with me ;)!

All these are natural dyed on organic cotton .

Made at yarn dyed .

Hand painted on cloths with Indian Ethnic colors . This tradition is continues since some 2 millenniums. .
