In the world of fashion is it fair to disregard unfair practice, poverty, and the protection of the enviornment in favour of luxury, delight and desirability?

As many who have studied fashion know the fashion industry is a world of luxury, delight, desirability and exceptional design skills. Some also say that fashion for them is form a escapism. In regards to this and the history and nature of the fashion industry, do you think it's fair for fashion to cut back on the luxury in favour of more ethical sustainable design?

Also, do you think that Ethical Fashion is appealing to the unethical consumer and can Ethical Fashion carry enough weight, some say it doesn't at present, (design-wise/design aesthetics and innovation) in the industry whereby eventually all will begin to switch for unethical consumerism to ethical consumerism?

Would love to here peoples views!
