Fairly paid workers in co-operatives and organic+sustainable fabrics in India??

I am in Mumbai in a weeks time and want to make contact with people who may be able to help with any of the above.I am a business just starting out.Any ideas, contacts or pointers would be great.Really it is a stop-off on the way to Thailand but I want to get a feel for India (having never been) to see if it is somewhere i would be happy living for several months a year-while overseeing/helping with construction
