Profile Information

Profession / role:
Owner / Designer / Thinker
Company / organisation:
Shanti Sundays
My primary role in relation to fashion is:
Consumer, Designer, Buyer, Retailer, Manufacturer
I am looking to discover or buy
Fabric suppliers and manufacturers and general sharing of contacts and advice
About me / About business or organisation:
I believe that we should all make a difference when and where possible. if we think bigger collectively then this difference will be notable.
I established Shanti Sundays to provide clothing and accessories for yogis like me who love fashion that can also function well in the studio.
People, ethics and sustainability are extremely important to me so my mission is to honour all of these with the resources available and build upon these along the way.
Shanti Sundays launches in Autumn 2010 and for every garment sold, £1 will be donated to charitable funds offering education and sanctuary to the less privelledged children of the world. I manufacture in India so it makes sense to start here, giving something back to the land and the people who have inspired me so much on my journeys there.
I hope that one day we will all learn to live more selflessly and from our hearts. Life is so much sweeter when filled with kindness.

Namaste Tracey,
I am so sorry for the delay in reply. I have not been well and have just come out from hospital and am looking at this site after a long time. I am still in the Uk in Oakham. I will be going home to Kathmandu in about ten to fifteen days. Of course I will be able to supply you with any sort of fabric to Noida without any problems. With the minimum orders for the machine made ones is 200m per colour and the lead time is four weeks. The hand made ones are 100m per colour and the lead time will vary with the degree of difficulty. I am sorry again but it might be better if you send me mails to himalayannettle@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you. Take care,
Udaya

Dear Tracey,

My name is Laricea Ioana Roman and I am a student at Kingston University, London (KU ID 0942659). I am doing a Master in Marketing, Advertising and Communications and at the moment I am writing my Dissertation. My topic is related to ethical clothing, more specifically, I am investigating how personal values influence customers' decision to buy ethical clothing. In order to come up with some answers for my topic, I need some opinions from people who actually bought ethical clothes.

This is the reason why I am kindly asking you to help me and fill in my questionnaire. It will take you no more than 10 minutes and you can win three books and £30 vouchers!

Hello there Tracey,
I have been working with natural fibres in Nepal for a long time now and can supply you with fibre, yarns, textiles, as well as finished goods. Please have a look at www.heavenhemp.co.uk and www.wildweaves.co.uk to get an idea of what we do. I work with hemp, nettle, cactus, banana, bamboo . I also have a small workshop where we make bags, clothing and rugs from natural fibres. Hope to hear from you and would like to be your friend. Take care,
Udaya
