About me / About business or organisation:
After several years in show business as a costume and set designer , catalan designer from Barcelona Fiona Capdevila chose to set her own business, in 2002, to develop both her creative and commercial ideas, and thereby provide values such as fair trade, environmental sustainability, and the use of artisanal techniques & ancient knowledge .
That was the starting reason for her project motivation Del Través – alquímia tèxtil: Finding ways to create by reusing vintage and waste material. By going on, she found more reasons: the beauty of one-off-a-kind pieces, creating for single costumers, emotional links with family materials, how creative ,rich and inspiring is starting from “lived” materials, the satisfaction of “unthrowing” waste to trash…
She defined Textile Alchemy as the process whereby disused textile materials, damaged, outdated, and wich in more or less degree have reached the end of its life as an object, are subjected to various processes of deconstruction, transformation, bleaching, dyeing , combination, restructuring, plastic creation and recreation.
The result of it are new items that start a new cycle carrying with them the vestiges and textures of previous lives merged with the author’s creative track.
