SUSTAINABLE FASHION DESIGNS FROM THE ECOCHIC DESIGN AWARD 2013 FINALISTS COLLECTIONS IN LONDON EXHIBITION

5 - 11 MARCH 2014, 8 GANTON STREET, CARNABY

Redress, the Hong Kong based NGO, announces the London segment of The EcoChic Design Award 2013 touring exhibition. Between 5 – 11 March 2014, this exhibition will display emerging fashion designers minimal waste designs, which are based on the sustainable design techniques of zero-waste, Up-cycling and reconstruction in an effort to cut waste out of fashion. All eight finalists from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, UK, France and Germany will be represented in the exhibition, which is open to the general public and supported by UK exhibition sponsor, Carnaby.

Changing the pattern of fashion

 

Redress will also be hosting an exclusive event on March 6, where emerging designers and those interested in sustainable fashion can view the exhibition and find out more about this growing sustainable design competition working to change the pattern of fashion.

 

At the event Orsola de Castro, The EcoChic Design Award 2013 international judge, and ‘god-mother’ of up-cycling, will be discussing finalists collections and sharing her own experience in working with textile waste for her label, From Somewhere, and other projects.

The EcoChic Design Award 2013 UK finalist, Catherine Hudson will also be on hand to share her experiences as a competition finalist.

 

The EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition inspiring emerging fashion designers and students to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste. Finalists have been on an education and design journey lasting several theory and design-packed months, leading up to the grand final at Hong Kong Fashion Week.

The London exhibition is part of a Asia / Europe tour of select garments from the grand final of The EcoChic Design Award 2013, held at Hong Kong Fashion Week in Jan 2014, which is visiting the emerging designers home countries to showcase their fashion designs.
