Hi Mario,
The day in your schedule that works for me is Monday 18th sometime around 3 - 4pm. I can meet you at the Rubin Art Museum http://www.rmanyc.org/index.php in the cafe. It is quiet there and we can have a proper chat.

Hi Mario,
Thanks for the note. T&T - very nice! I was there in April and it was so beautiful. I will unfortunately be flying to London on the 16th and then off to Geneva for the UN Biodiversity Summit, so will miss your time in New York City. If you are in though, check out the Lower East Side. They have a lot of green eco boutiques around there - KAIGHT on 83 Orchard, Moo Shoes (across the street), Organic Avenue and others!

oh i see your situation and in that case you would need to work with factories who do big orders as they tend to print allover like that when its on a roller printer whereas t shirt and sons style companies work on carousel printers and so do do smaller orders. Just be prepared to print quite a high volume of metres for the work you want to do. im not sure of companies in the USA who may do it which i guess is closer for you but i know in europe companies go alot to turkey or china as you can expect as its more cost effective but again - the ethics and knowing what can be done

have you contacted any students or colleges in the USA too from arts and fashion schools as they have equipment to do all over printing and you have more control too?? just a thought

but be good to hear what is happening in the caribbean as a fellow carib - in origin though my focus is now on africa and ethical fashion i do wonder and think to look into the caribbean and help to bring up industry out there too...

but your views would be interesting
maybe i will set up a caribbean group if we dont already have one and so those from there could join and we could see all the needs and maybe make a difference - however small to start with

let me know your thoughts

Hello there Mario,
Bamboo is good as you say. I mostly work with vege dyes but the fabric can be dyed to almost 400 colous from the swiss AZO free dyes. The fine nettle is also good for hot weather as the fibre itself is hollow and allows for temperature differences. The nettle is in limited quantities as the yarns as all hand made for now. I am working on the nettle and hemp yarns to be done on machines and then it will be better. If there is anything else, let me know. If you want to feel the fabrics, then send me your postal address and i can send you swatches. Take care,
Udaya
