Hi all,

I am currently sourcing organic or fairtrade jersey knit fabrics for a live student project which to be shown during Birmingham's Fairtrade Fortnight.  This is a collaborative, student led project between Birmingham's three main universities, our contribution is to design and make garments for the catwalk event.

I would really appreciate contacts where students can purchase small quantities of suitable fabrics, for this particular project we are only using stretch and knitted fabrics.

Hi all,

I thought members of this group might be interested in seeing the film Red Gold which highlights proposals for a new gold and copper mine in Bristol Bay, Alaska - but which is being resisted by the local community, supported by jewellers internationally (in opposition!) and anglers too.

Come and watch the film, hear from Alaska Natives who will be in London, and join us for a drinks reception.

Hi all

I set up an ethical book club

Please have a look

I have started a with a couple books and ask you to all follow the format

1) add a discussion (as its easier for people to comment their thoughts back rather than on the comment wall)
2) add a picture of the book
3) make sure you title it with author
4) give your personal review on the book ( i took from amazon but please give your own as this was simply for example purposes)
5) your score card out of 5 please - 5 = excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor

and most importantly read, learn and enjoy! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS to join too!!!

Jacqueline, I saw your reply in the 'Spotlight on Sourcing Group'

Its a really good point and I completely agree that is also really important to cover how to set up an ethical business- otherwise you risk having a really great idea but you can't do anything as you do not have a sustainable business.

This would be a great thing to cover in a masterclass.
