Hello,

I’m Rachel Wintz, a Sociologist from Anchorage, Alaska. I’m working on a proposal to study and report on the sustainable fashion industry, profiling sustainable innovations within the industry and looking toward the future of the fashion industry and its impact around the globe on social, economic, and environmental factors.

I’d like to interview people in all sorts of positions within the fashion industry -from the farm to the factory to the shop. If the proposal is funded, I will be submitting reports to be disseminated by either the National Geographic or the Institute of Current World Affairs. If you’re available for an interview about your work in the sustainable fashion industry or perhaps would like to do a multimedia project about your work, please contact me at rachelwintz@gmail.com.

Additionally, if you have information or resources you can refer me to, I’m happy to receive any expertise you have to share with me about the sustainable fashion industry. Your collaboration is much appreciated and will greatly enhance my understanding of the sustainable fashion industry.

If you’d like to take a look at my work, please visit my portfolio: https://sites.google.com/site/portfoliorachelwintz/

Thank you,

Hello! Looking for some supplies for my MA Fashion and the Environment collection. It's using authenticity, transparency, design for disassembly, mindfulness of waste and craftsmanship as the key principles of design practice and method of communicating certain issues/ideals.

I'm using the north east of England, where I'm from as the base inspiration so all of my materials must evoke a feeling of that area. SO, I call up on you.

Does anyone have any of these things going spare/know where I can get them/have suppliers/could sponsor me:

-tarpaulin (rubberised cotton sheeting variety) & PVC (reclaimed)
-beads of all glass, ceramic, acrylic, crystal sort
-rope, man made & natural
-cord, cotton
-wool tops (for felting)
-neoprene foam sheet
-army blankets
-linen inc. tablecloths
-latex
-webbing

Thank you!!!

Hello

Would love to hear from anyone involved in Upcycling.  I'm currently in my final year at Uni, but hoping to start upcycling when I'm done.
Okay - as I'm in Lincoln, it's not really up north, But I am originally from Yorkshire so I think that counts!

I'm looking for 12 - 15 models, and hair and make up artists to work on a fashion show promoting ethical, sustainable design in Greater Manchester. The show will take place at Salford University on 26th November to a select audience, with coverage, and a competition running up to the event with Capital Radio. This is an initiative run in conjunction with Recycled for Greater Manchester and fashion forward London based charity TRAID. Modelling experience is not necessary, but confidence is, and you will need to be available all day on 26th Nov, and possibly a day before for fittings. If you're interested in Make up and Hair, please send a copy of your CV and one example of your work. Potential Models, please send me accurate measurements and a picture. I really hope this will be a fantastic event, I'm looking for a dedicated team that will make it happen and really change people's perspective of ethical fashion.

I'm organising a charity fashion show in Leeds for the middle of August, so I'm looking for a few too! Maybe visit 'The Third Estate' in the Merrion centre, my friend Angela owns it, it's an ethical fashion boutique, and it's REALLY nice, she sells her own label in there (and mine), and there must be other local designers in there too... x

I'm looking at locations in Birmingham for an August 2010 event - Should be able to co-incide / compete with birmingham fashion week.... like an art exhibition / fashion show all made up on the day out of whatever we can find!! .. Anyone want to join in? It's going to take a few peeps to pull this off!
