Welcome!

This group is for pioneers in the world of ethical fashion who would like to learn more about, and contribute to, some of the wider debates that are happening around the role of business in fighting poverty.

Across the world, businesses - large and small - as well as governments and aid agencies are reassessing how to harness the power of business for development impact. This is driven by a realisation that giving people the opportunity to get a job or grow a business is the best, most sustainable way to end poverty.

Below are some links to resources that you might find useful. These are hosted on Business Fights Poverty, a partner site to the Ethical Fashion Forum. We will regularly post blogs and discussions here, and would encourage you to do the same!

Hello there

We are a romanian brand lunched by Floriana Sandu-a young designer- from passion of nature, beauty and freedom. With tendencies on the contrast between natural, simplicity and craftmanship, Gnana brings a versatile and conceptual design with simple cuts, completed by the use of natural materials.

The contrast between clean cuts and the complexity of the hand made or digital prints brings the idea of the heterogeneity
of the human being, of our dual feelings and the power of emotionality.
Each collection brings a new and complete universe, by decomposing in three divisions: clothes for men and women,
accessories and jewellery and the interior design division, fusing to offer an unique and exhaustive experience.
Gnana’s characters are free, versatile and creative, explorers of the nature and of their inner world. Entities that trough imagination can give a new form to each garment

Our textiles are all natural (excepting the modal finer made of Fagus bark), traditional romanian soft goods woven however
with the latest technologies.

Properties of our textiles:
-antialergic
-aerated
-easy to maintain without ironing
-dimensionally stable indifferently of the ironing or washing temperature
-durable ecological colors

We would love to have your feedback-as your opinion matter to us.

Thank you.

Hi all.

I'm working with a couple of new projects which are looking for producers who are able to produce high-quality products in collaboration with high-end designers.

Designs and product development assistance will be provided, but suppliers must be able to produce to a high quality.

Products can be clothes, accessories or trims.

Producers should have an ethical/environmental focus: i.e. fairtrade, sustainable development, women empowerment, craft preservation, using environmentally friendly materials, etc.

We will be visiting suppliers in the next few months so please get in touch asap!

If you are interested or want to know more, please contact me: nicola.thornley@googlemail.com.

Hello All ,

I'm a fashion designer & consultant working with global clients especially helping start up labels from concept to completion. Currently I'm helping a Non Profit Organization,a rural women enterprise in North India to market their products in apparels with 35 types of hand embroidery and hand made jewelery made from wooden beads, glass beads, shell and ceramic beads. We are looking for bulk buyers/wholesalers and retailers for our products. Can anyone point me towards any possible leads ? You can contact me at fuel4fashion@gmail.com.

Thanks so much !

Hi All,

I'm looking for ethical and fair-trade manufacturers and suppliers interested in expanding their business in the far east by participating in the Blueprint trade fair in Singapore this summer. This is an exciting opportunity as I have a lot of eastern designer's who are interested in outsourcing to green factories in South East Asia. Can the interested parties please mail me on i.thopte@fashion.arts.ac.uk asap?

Thanks,

Ishwari
