junky styling working the Wardrobe Surgery Magic in New York 15-19th June 2010

JUNKY STYLING

Wardrobe Surgery

June 15 – 19

Junky Styling will offer New Yorkers the opportunity to participate in Wardrobe Surgery at the Feldman Gallery from June 15 to 19. The public is invited to bring an item of clothing that will be
returned as a transformed garment. Junky Styling breathes new life into
garments that are either ill-fitting(frantic senseless buying),or a bit
worn( from too much love), and make something previously un-wearable
into an everyday, one-of-a kind favorite.

The procedure is this: an individual supplies an old, ill-fitting, or worn piece of clothing for a complete overhaul, customization, or simple alternation. The service allows customers to be part of the
redesign process – to discuss what they require or desire. Wardrobe
Surgery is invited to all shapes and sizes and everyone can benefit from
it. Depending on demand, the commission will be completed within the
week for a final fitting or finished in London and posted back.

Junky Styling’s fashions are included in the ongoing group exhibition Resurrectine at the Feldman Gallery through June 26. The theme of the show embraces the notion of transformation – the creative
art of taking form, appearance, nature, character, or meaning, and
making it new again.

A clothing label, a shop, and a design team, Junky Styling has built a reputation over the last ten years, not only for its tailor-detailed fresh styles, but also for encouraging customers to get involved in
recycling. Junky Styling wants to change the way people consume
clothing.

Original Junky pieces have been exhibited in Vienna, Athens, China and Greece and are in the permanent collection of the Design Museum in London. Recent speaking engagements were at Parsons The New School for
Design in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. For

It’s inspirational to see what you could do with an old suit and a bit of imagination. Independent Online

Another favorite (a customized recycled outfit by Junky Styling) would be my husband’s tie-bottomed, silver-grey trousers. He only wore them for special occasions and I decided they needed to get out more. A
very quick button addition converted them to fit me and creates a fold
on the front that compliments the design. Now I wear them all the time

There is a certain resonance that Junky Styling will do their work in Soho which historically has been an important manufacturing center in New York. Marco Nocello, Gallerist
