for a conscious clothing

The brand’s presentation

From an email and a casual meeting to the creation of a mutual project: 2007 was the year and that’s how the label by mutation was born. Tamara Tung (Business Director) and Gabriela Mazepa (Art Director), the founders, have met each other in Paris and united their creative and commercial skills to begin this french and brazilian brand.

With the motto “We like what you don’t like anymore”, by mutationoperates against the excessive production in the fashion industry by retrieving end of series of other brands, of flea markets or clothing items in excess of friends’ wardrobe. These collected supplies are transformed in limited editions and unique collections which are manufactured at NGOs of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And using tags that show photos and tell us a little bit of the items history, the product comes to the final consumer as a sort of Certificate of Origin which proves this whole process by offering a new thinking about the way we are doing fashion.

Still challenging this catwalk, by mutation uses artists or dancers rather than mannequins, videos and performances in place of the fashion shows to communicate and reach the public. It is with this bridge between art and fashion that the label shows its playful universe which is translated into necklaces, collars, dresses, skirts, blouses, among other fun and different products.

Currently, the brand is going through a process of change: the essence will remain the same, but the visual identity will change. And it counts in with business representatives – I am one of them* – in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Stay tuned here soon!
