My primary role in relation to fashion is:

sponsors and places to show the fashionRIP Project, places to speak and information to spread about sustainable fashion and textiles
About me / About business or organisation:
I am a designer and entrepreneur, a writer and a video editor, a researcher and a dedicated follower of fashion.
I have worked in the private and non profit sectors.
Then I got into fashion redesign as a thing unto itself. I was appalled at waste, lousy textiles, fast fashion and shallow vision. I started doing my homework as well as my school work. I started the fashion ethos blog to support my classes in recycouture. The fashionRIP blog was started for a class at NSCC and the vision grew with feedback and support from other students and now it is a full blown production with a sustainable plan for its future. Amorphic and non linear, collaborative and relevant for its time; it is an experiment in change.
I have several degrees as I saw the connections and hated to stop at the planned boundaries because I didn’t want to miss something!
Communications, Business and Media Certificate –NSCC 2007
AAS Visual Communication Tech/Digital Interactive Media Option &
AAS Visual Communication Tech/Marketing Option -Shoreline CC 2005
AAS Apparel Design and Services –SCCC 1986
Career history / Company history:
I started the Art Guild of Sustainable Ballard, was the sole proprietor of Zootsuit Custom Apparel for 10 years, was the head of alterations at Nelson’s Sewing Machine Co. (1986 until 1993 or so)
In St Louis I worked in sales at Nieman Marcus and did a little modeling.
I teach recycouture, basic sewing and 1day workshops on altered cards, childrens art etc.
I write for various web sites about sustainable fashion and am starting to add lectures to the mix. The first one will be this October at Seattle Central Comm. College
At this time i am finishing up the "Species on the Verge of Extinction" chapter of the 7 chapter (planned!) art installation "fashionRIP project" http://fashionrip.blogspot.com

Wonderful Deborah! Someone who actually knows what 'sustainablity' is intended to mean.
I go one step further by providing countries with a 'national symbol ' to help them create awareness ( I dont like the word 'branding' but thats what it is) and in so doing reduce the 6 degrees of separation to just 1. And I even produce the cloth design in gift wrapping paper and soon carrier bags overprinted with with their tourist slogan. Wait till you see the 'Seahawks' tartan and how its going to help Africa. Lots more to tell you.
You can get me at davidmcgill61@yahoo.co.uk if you have time

Hi Deborah, ABC Channel 7 are organising a unique international fashion show in San Francisco in February 2010 featuring outfits and accessories by fashion designers using my textiles. It is based around an entirely new concept in design, linking ethical and sustainable fashion with 'fair trade' . Filming begins in South Africa later this month.
