About me / About business or organisation:
I started my bridal business as a bit of an experiment. Inspired by the trials and tribulations I encountered while on the search for her own wedding dress, I wondered if there might be other brides out there who wanted to do things like walk, dance, use the bathroom without assistance on their wedding day? Could this be true?! Freed from the cumbersome traditional bridal gown, women would be free to run, jump, and play on one of the happiest days of their lives! Not to mention, breathe properly!

I’ve always loved to draw. I cultivated a love of illustration from very early in life which eventually morphed into a love of fashion and all things wearable. I went from not knowing a thing about sewing to graduating with honors and a B.A. in Apparel Design and Development. My senior line of organic silk lingerie, Eden, was nominated for the Most Marketable Line, Studio Trend-Setter, and Best Theme Development Awards. I was also one of five graduates in my class of thirty to receive a Technical Achievement Award for my studio collection. I have continued to expand her education by attending seminars with renowned bridal couturier, Susan Khalje.

Sustainability has remained an important component of my design process. Not a destination so much as a journey, I believe there is something to learn at every step in a truly sustainable process. I work with a wide variety of materials, but prefer to use silk hemp blends, peace silks, fabrics made with certified organic materials, and fabrics made traditionally in small villages.

Stressed about your wedding? Neither am I. Now, buy a pretty dress and have some fun.

I do. Differently.
Career history / Company history:
Graduated with a B.A. in Apparel Design and Development with a Design Concentration and a Minor in General Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Stout in 2005.

I was employed at Christoper & Banks, Inc in Plymouth, MN from 2005 - 2007 as a technical designer and illustrator.

I incorporated Something New, LLC in 2009. I have worked with a number of individual clients and launched my ready to wear line of February, 2011.

I am now the Produce Manager at Menomonie Market Food Co-op from 9 - 5 where I have learned a great deal about sustainability and the triple bottom line. I am actively growing Something New as a sustainable business during my evenings and weekends.
