About me / About business or organisation:
At Aimee Kent, we are committed to green, ethical production, which lies at the heart of our business concept. We recognise the need for an environmentally friendly, sustainable printed textile production technique.

The brand only launched this year and already looks set for exciting things in 2013. Our boutique will offer a range of quirky, trend-setting, sustainable fashion and lifestyle products which are updated seasonally. We also offer one-off limited edition up-cycled fashion garments and decorative interiors items.

Collaboration and production services are available to established and emerging designers of fashion, interiors and accessories.

We aim to help give Scotland an edge in the growing worldwide ethical fashion industry.
Career history / Company history:
Aimee was born in Kenya and grew up around African textiles and wider cultural influences. Travel, foreign architecture and adventure inspire the signature designs, made using a combination of traditional screenprinting, hand-painting, resist techniques and digital textile design. Aimee’s abstract, drawings and mark making techniques, produce eye-catching prints with a bold, distinct, almost tribal style.

Aimee gained an Honours Degree in Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art where she developed techniques, disciplines and processes which now lie at the heart of the brand. Since graduating in 2010, Aimee Kent has worked on collaborations and commissions with award winning fashion designer Henrietta Ludgate (winner of the Ethical Fashion Forum, Fashion Innovation Award 2009 and nominee for Young Designer of the Year 2010/2011 at the Scottish Fashion Awards), EMI Music, Marc Ross, Niki Taylor of labels The Top Project and Olanic, Bonnie Bling, Johari and Scottish up-cycled fabric accessories label Fantoosherie.

Collaborative designs for Henrietta Ludgate’s A/W 10 and S/S 11 collections received critical appraise and were shown at London, Paris, Milan and Athens Fashion Weeks, and the Scottish Fashion Awards. The designs were also featured in high end magazines, online websites and blogs including Vogue.com and Marie Claire.
