Hi Anja Claire,
Somehow I missed your posting in September, regarding your trip to Thailand and Laos. If you're still coming, you're welcome to come and visit my ethical-organic-traditional silk venture out in a village in Northeast Thailand. Everything from mulberry to weaving is done right there, our colours are totally natural, and the weavers have full cultural ownership of their knowledge and designs.
You can check us out if you like at www.weaving.sawangboran.com.
best regards, and perhaps a bientot,
rosanne

Dear Anja,

My name is Laricea Ioana Roman and I am a student at Kingston University, London (KU ID 0942659). I am doing a Master in Marketing, Advertising and Communications and at the moment I am writing my Dissertation. My topic is related to ethical clothing, more specifically, I am investigating how personal values influence customers' decision to buy ethical clothing. In order to come up with some answers for my topic, I need some opinions from people who actually bought ethical clothes.

This is the reason why I am kindly asking you to help me and fill in my questionnaire. It will take you no more than 10 minutes and you can win three books and £30 vouchers!

Thank you for your consideration,

17th-19th Jakarta
20-21st Bandung
21-22nd Solo
23rd- ?? Jakarta
Then Bali

Let me know where you wanna meet, maybe on the evening of 20th for dinner or after dinner?

Coming across more bamboo than org. cotton from designers I know there, which is interesting.

I haven't planned to meet Mirza? Maybe the council have organized something or we are meeting him for dinner.. how funny...

Im just looking for sampling lengths for now. So If he could email me may@regenerateclothing.com that would be great.

Hi Anja!

When I was looking for courses MA Fashion and the Environment was by far the best 'fashion and textile' oriented one...however I think there is one at Epsom? but i'm not sure if thats just design?!
Its an amazing course with lots of opportunities to work with different designers/ scientists/ consultants etc. You get fully submerged into all the different things that are happening around London and across the globe, it is very self directed but if you have an idea of what you want to achieve there and work hard (i'm currently living off very little sleep as deadlines are looming!!) then its great...and all the people are lovely!

Haha I think London has made me walk faster...that sounds weird...but you soon learn to dart around people in order to get to where you need to go fast!! And as much as I hate to say it...London transport beats the Manchester Magic buses by miles!

Did I help at all?...let me know if theres any other questions I can help with!

Hi Anja

Thanks so much for your email, I would love to meet up Ill be in
JAKARTA, BADUNG, SOLO, BALI. Ill be there for a month from 15th March trying to develop collection.

I have found a organic cotton factory in Java but at this point i only need small quantities for samples.

I have a friend there who knows where I can get Bamboo, and is teling me organic cotton is expensive and hard to get hold of.

I spoke to PAN yesterday they said that Indonesia does not grow organic cotton, but there are a few spinners, which is why its expensive, because they import it from india. But still researching today to see if there are alternatives :)

Maybe I can work with fair trade organizations? or look at other alternatives if this is not possible?

Please send me your friends details if I could buy some jersey off him that would be great.

Thanks

Hello there Anja,
I have been working with natural fibres in Nepal for a long time now and can supply you with fibre, yarns, textiles, as well as finished goods. Please have a look at www.heavenhemp.co.uk and www.wildweaves.co.uk to get an idea of what we do. I work with hemp, nettle, cactus, banana, bamboo . I also have a small workshop where we make bags, clothing and rugs from natural fibres. Hope to hear from you and would like to be your friend. Take care,
Udaya
