Johari, which means ‘something precious’ in Swahili, makes stylish beautiful clothing and accessories that people love. Every Johari products is handmade in Kenya by Social Enterprise Johari Designs and the print designs are inspired by African culture.
Johari Designs is a Social Enterprise run by Johari Foundation, Kenya. It was established to help train and offer employment to vulnerable young adults. The Johari Apprenticeship Programme delivers an 18 month curriculum in tailoring, material sourcing and jewellery-making techniques. The skills, knowledge and confidence gained by the students helps them to build a more secure future for themselves and their families. On-going employment can lead to better economic opportunities and economic growth.
100% of the profit made by Johari helps to fund the Johari Foundation’s Miale programmes which supports children and young adults towards a better future by helping with education, vocational, social and basic needs.
