Natalia Gontcharova, Le Coq d'Or, Les Ballets Russes, 1914. Radical designs for the time, bridging Futurism with traditional Russian folk motifs.

An exciting, inspirational and pioneering new textiles course comes to the V&A to run in tandem with the fabulous, upcoming

Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes, 1909 - 1929

exhibition.

Melanie Bowles, author of Digital Textile Design and Emma Neuberg, Founder of www.slowtextiles.org, deliver the course to reflect slow/fast metabolisms, address slow/fast textile techniques and elucidate different material lifecycles, biographies and their cultural meanings - all inspired by the original Ballets Russes textiles.

This promises to be a rich, engaging and expanding 8 week, hands-on learning experience.
