Scottish jewellery designer Jane Gowans has launched her new collection, Captain, for 2013.

Jane Gowans is a contemporary Scottish Jewellery designer, with her studio based in Dundee. Celebrating the quality and heritage of traditional craftsmanship, each piece is made exclusively in the UK and hand finished by Jane herself in her studio. Each collection holds a distinct aesthetic and story, as Jane takes inspiration from the everyday, making the ordinary extraordinary.

Jane has launched the new SS13 ‘Captain’ collection - The nautical – inspired collection of ten key pieces is available in polished gold vermeil and sterling silver, perfect the Spring/Summer season. The discovery of an old photo of her Grandfather in naval uniform sparked Jane’s inspiration for the collection. Delving into maritime history and culture, she has united her craft into decorative jewellery designs.

Last week Jane was named as a finalist for The New Designer of The Year at the 2013 UK Jewellery Awards, which follows the announcement of Jane being in contention for Accessories Designer of The Year in the Drapers Awards. This year has seen Jane identified as one of the top emerging names in jewellery design, the Captain pieces being first stocked in Harvey Nichols Edinburgh. Even from her launch, her work shot into the spotlight,  the Betty Earrings from Jane’s debut collection being worn by Scottish singer/songwriter Emeli Sande and featuring prominently on the cover for the No. 1  album, ‘Our Version of Events’.
