Garments without Guilt- is it a viable proposition for apparel industry in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Apparel - Garments without Guilt, the ethos of the Sri Lankan apparel industry, epitomizes the synergy between ethical brands and apparel made in Sri Lanka. "Children have no business in our business" is just one of the principles governing this industry ethos. Its ethical sourcing and sustainable development practices aim to empower women and support their communities through poverty alleviation and offering opportunities for education and personal growth. With the development of sustainable eco-friendly solutions to apparel manufacturing, it has endeavoured to make the 'Made in Sri Lanka' label synonymous with quality, reliability and social and environmental accountability.

Sri Lanka Apparel is proud to be the only outsourced manufacturing country in Asia which has signed up to 39 of the ILO Conventions.

Above is an extract from the official Sri Lanka Apparel website. I am reading for the postgraduate diploma through Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). My research topic is how viable is this proposition taking into consideration lack of media freedom, allegations of war crimes and other aspects that reject this claim of ethical behavior.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would share your thoughts on how well accepted is the 'made in Sri Lanka' label in retail stores such as Marks and Spencer, Macys etc and whether customers boycott purchase of products made in Sri Lanka.
